OXO Good Grips Smooth Edge Can Opener
December 31st, 2006 by Duff OMelia
We had an amazing OXO Good Grips can opener for over a decade. It worked wonderfully and it eventually bit the dust.
So, while at WalMart, I bought an Oneida can opener and it was unable to open a can after the first or second use. It was pathetic. Next, we bought the Farberware can opener. This piece of junk fell apart in about a week. It was unreal. It seemed like we just weren’t meant to open cans anymore.
I finally ran across another OXO Good Grips can opener and thought we’d give it another shot. This one’s a bit different though. It cuts the side of the can instead of the top. No sharp edges. It doesn’t even feel like you’re cutting the can. We keep thinking… is this thing working? And then the top of the can is somehow removed. It’s an excellent product. The lid of the can doesn’t fall in, you can’t get cut by the top, and it’s got some handy little pliers for those not wanting to get their hands dirty. It’s well designed, sturdy, and most importantly, it does what it’s supposed to do.
