Goldtouch Adjustable Keyboard

August 14th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

I love this keyboard. I was starting to have some significant hand/wrist carpal tunnel pain. I needed to address the issue because it seemed to be getting worse and worse. I noticed about a half dozen friends were using this Goldtouch keyboard and I asked them about it. They said they were having pain and that the Goldtouch took the pain away. I have now had the same experience.

This is a high quality keyboard that’s built to last. It’s expensive, but it allows me to use a computer without being in pain. I even bring it with me when I travel.

Canon PowerShot A610 Digital Camera

July 16th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

This is a 5 mega pixel digital camera we recently purchased. It’s the first Canon camera we’ve owned and I’m quite happy with it. Adjusting the settings is pretty cinchy and the quality of pictures is excellent. It seems that Canon really understands digital photography. It even takes video which I thought I’d never use but I find I’m actually using on occasion.

One downside is that it seems to have more of an issue with red eye than our previous camera did. The red eye is easy to remove using iPhoto but it’s a bit annoying. If I were buying a new camera today, I think I might consider one of the really small models which would make it easier to bring the camera places (especially if it could fit in my pocket).

Even so, the A610 is a high quality camera.

Apple iPod

I like mine. It performs well and it fits a ton of stuff on it. I’ve got all of our music, the entire audio Bible, audio books, and podcasts.

Podcasts change things. I get to listen to the programs I’m interested in when I want to listen to them. The radio industry must be hurting because of the convenience of podcasts.

20" Apple iMac

April 17th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

I have the 20 inch iMac with the Intel chip. It is the best designed product I’ve ever owned.

I’m quite surprised how much more productive I am on this machine than I was on a windows box. It took about 3 days to become more productive.

Apple has somehow reached an incredible balance between making a machine that works quite well for an inexperienced computer person while simultaneously pleasing experienced software developers. As a developer, it feels like I can automate everything on this Mac.

I had been resisting getting an Apple as many friends became addicted to Macs over the past few years. I now understand why Apple customers are so passionate and loyal. I actually put an Apple bumper sticker on my car. I’m all in.

The Intel chip means I can run Windows as an application and it’s really fast. So if you’re afraid of leaving the Windows world, this is no longer a valid fear. You can still use your windows, although you’ll find that you really don’t need to. :)

They’re just higher quality machines with a much better operating system. This means they work better. Simple.
