Mad Dog 357

January 3rd, 2007 by Duff OMelia

This is the hottest hot sauce I’ve tried to date. 357,000 scoville units of heat is a lotta heat. Just for some comparison:

Hot Sauce Heat
Tabasco 5,000 scoville units
Vicious Viper 250,000 scoville units
Mad Dog 357 357,000 scoville units

2 or 3 drops in a plate of food is plenty Mad Dog for me. I’m enjoying this sauce. It’s quite hot and I think it’s got pretty good flavor as well. The disclaimer on the side of the bottle is great. By opening the bottle, I agree that I’m of sound mind and body and I recognize that this sauce is serious and it can hurt. Good stuff.

Pink Lady Apples

November 10th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

Have I been living in a bubble for the past few decades? Does everyone else know about Pink Lady Apples? Am I the only human to have just discovered them?

I thought I knew all of the apple varieties out there. I’ve always been a fan of the Empire’s and the Granny Smith’s. This year at the farmer’s market we found this yummy variety.

They’re crisp, juicy, and delicious. They’re quite good.

Pepper Dog Salsa

October 29th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

My brother Russ made a special delivery out to our house tonight. He dropped off some Pepper Dog Salsa and some chips.

We had read BJ’s review awhile back and we were pretty interested in checking it out. BJ had called it the “Dom Perignon of salsas”. I thought he must be exaggerating. After our family downed 1.5 jars tonight, I wouldn’t call his assessment an exaggeration at all. I also liked BJ’s idea of using it as a topping for hamburgers and other foods.

It is delicious. It’s definitely my favorite salsa. I love that it’s smooth and easy to get on chips. I love that it’s not full of onion chunks. And it had a nice gentle burn. It’s good stuff. We’ll definitely be buying more.

If you serve this salsa for friends, they will certainly ask about it because it’s unique and it’s delicious.

Coke Zero

September 6th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

I tried Coke Zero last night because my brother Russ wrote this thumbs up review. This is diet soda and it tastes like diet soda. I think I could acquire a taste for it if I drank it every day for a few weeks. Until then, I give it a thumbs down. I’m not a fan.

Remember that Russ likes Splenda. Yuck.

Iced Caramel Macchiato

August 30th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

I’ve never really been a Starbucks customer. Then I read this book and was driving home from a recent vacation. I had to try out a high class uppity drink.

Espresso, milk, vanilla syrup, ice and buttery caramel. It was quite delicious.

Mr. Yoshida's Original Gourmet Sauce

I agree with Denise’s review, this sauce is delicious. I think this will end up being one of the sauces we have in stock for last minute marinades.

Vicious Viper Hot Sauce

July 28th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

If you find yourself putting more and more Tabasco on your food and it doesn’t seem hot enough, you might want to try the Viper. My brother in law Jeff introduced me to it and it’s some pretty hot stuff. A few drops go a long way. I think it has some pretty good flavor. I’ll be a repeat buyer.

Sausage Dip

July 26th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

I have eaten this sausage dip and it is delicious. Everyone seems to love it. I have eaten far too much of it.

My brother Russ introduced us to this recipe and we’ve respected him more ever since. I think Russ learned of the recipe from Nancy.

Famous Oatmeal Cookies

April 17th, 2006 by Duff OMelia

My brother Russ makes these. They’re delicious. I think they’re the best oatmeal cookies I’ve ever had.

I suspect he doctors them up in some way with some secret ingredients but here’s the Quaker Oats recipe he uses.

Frozen grapes

Wow. Our family just discovered them. Take green grapes and stick em in the freezer. Delicious.
